Matthias, great idea for getting our word "en masse" out to Apple, where Rosetta could be an optional install for Lion. I've been sending the Apple link to FreeHand friends I know. Is there a better way to reach more Mac FreeHand users though? Forums? Blogs? wherever FH users hang out?

Until our class action court case gets underway, getting Apple to recognize the need for FreeHand 10 & MX on Lion seems an important step.

Starting tomorrow LION is the New OS for all new Macs.......
Rosetta isn't included.....

I think this will be the dead for Freehand running in new Macs :-(

What can we do?
We need a great developer who will try hacking Rosetta to run it on Lion.

I think this is the only chance we'll have to run Freehand on new Macs....

Dear Apple Lion Team.

Since I am a Developer for a long time, I was early aware, that Rosetta won't be included in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.
I still work mostly with an Application called Freehand MX, which is not longer developed, cause Adobe bought Macromedia for their crappy Flash and very good Dreamweaver.

Unfortunately I depend on Freehand, because - well the Adobe option Illustrator sucks big time.

I can fully understand, that you don't want to include any old PPC or Universal Binarys in Lion anymore, but wouldn't it be a good Idea to sell Rosetta as a standalone App in the Mac App Store?

I would buy it! And I guess a lot of Customers too.

Pleas consider!

Thanks a lot,

There is hope friends!
The virtualisation of Snow Leopard or other older MacOSX could be a solution:
http://www.hardmac.com/news/2011/07/06/ ... ac-os-lion

They've tested it with Apple Works. It works. Until now only at a resolution of 1024x768 Pixel, but I think this is the right way for a solution.

It may interest us that Rosetta from SL doesn't work on Lion:

IT WORKS!!!!!!

I have tested it on my MacPro with Virtual Box 4.1 (http://www.virtualbox.org)
It works, but there are still some problems: only 1024x768 resolution and no short cuts... but it works.
Apple Works 6.2.9 also works.
Font-Handling with Linotype Font Explorer X 1.2.3 works fine.

Hope that Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion will soon allowing SnowLeopard Installation (until now only MacOSX Server)

FreeHand-Version: FreeHand MXa 11.0.2 Build 92
SnowLeopard Version installed: 10.6.3 (should also work without problems on 10.6.8)
SnowLeopard issue resolved with MXa Registration File

I've uploaded some screenshots:

Long live FreeHand

Might the upcoming Parallels 7 be able to run Snow Leopard inside of Lion?
