Last Apple Mac Model that supports Snow Leopard/Freehand?

Postby LIBERTINES79 » Sun Dec 06, 2015 9:07 am

Hi

Does anyone know that very last model of Mac that can run Snow Leopard & Freehand with Rosetta?

My old imac (early 2010) is slowing down a bit and I basically want to buy the very last iMac that supports Snow Leopard & Freehand with Rosetta to hopefully get a few more years use out of Freehand

It looks like these Mac models will run Snow Leopard based on this article from September 2015. https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2455

    iMac 11,1 and older
    Mac Mini 3,x and older
    MacBook 6,1 and older
    MacBook Pro 5,x and older
    MacPro 4,x and older
    MacBook Air 2,x and older

To the best of my knowledge, the last iMac with Snow Leopard and Rosetta was the mid 2011 model. Mine is 12,2 and it shipped with 10.6.6 with Rosetta as an optional install if I remember correctly.

A really good way seems to be the Mac Mini Server 2011 (http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/m ... specs.html)

It shipped with 10.7 but can easily be tweaked to run 10.6 (just some KEXTs for the graphic driver).

I have two for some years now without any problems and you have the full i7 quad core power :-)

Hope this helps...
